Installing BuddyPress for SportsPress

The BuddyPress integration requires that both BuddyPress and SportsPress are installed and active before the extension is activated.

Requirements

  • WordPress with BuddyPress installed and active

  • SportsPress 2.0.8 or newer

  • The BuddyPress for SportsPress plugin file (downloaded from your ThemeBoy account)

Steps

  1. Confirm BuddyPress is active under Plugins.

  2. Confirm SportsPress (free or Pro) is active and that you have at least one player or staff record.

  3. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

  4. Upload the buddypress-for-sportspress.zip file you downloaded from your ThemeBoy account.

  5. Click Install Now, then Activate.

On first activation the plugin migrates legacy data: any value previously stored under the _bsp_user_player_id user-meta key is moved into the post_author field of the matching player post. This silent migration runs once and updates the bp_sportspress_version option to record completion.

Verification

  1. Log in to the WordPress admin with a user account that does not have an associated player record.

  2. Visit the user's BuddyPress profile on the frontend. A SportsPress tab should appear in the profile navigation, but it will not yet show events because the user is not linked to a player record. Linking is covered in the Usage article.
