Installing the Yoast SEO Extension
Install the Yoast SEO extension in your WordPress site to register SportsPress data as Yoast replacement variables for use in title and meta description templates. Confirm the following before activating.
Requirements
WordPress with Yoast SEO installed and active
SportsPress 2.4 or newer (free or Pro)
The
yoast-seo-for-sportspress.zipfile from your ThemeBoy account
Steps
Confirm Yoast SEO is active under Plugins.
Confirm SportsPress is active.
Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Upload
yoast-seo-for-sportspress.zip.Click Install Now, then Activate.
The plugin uses TGM Plugin Activation to verify both dependencies. If either is missing, an admin notice will prompt you to install the missing plugin before the integration registers its replacements.
Verification
Go to SEO → Search Appearance → Content Types.
Switch to the Events tab (or any SportsPress post type).
Click the Insert variable dropdown beside the title or description template.
You should see SportsPress-specific variables (e.g.
%%sp_teams%%,%%league%%) listed alongside the standard Yoast variables.
